1960's:
The 1960's was a time period also known as the "sixties". This time period began on January 1, 1960 and ended on December 31, 1969. The decade was also labeled the "Swinging Sixties" because of the fall or relaxation of some social taboos especially relating to racism and sexism that occurred during this time. Also in the 1960's in Africa 32 countries gained Independence. John F. Kennedy was president in the 1960's and he pushed for african american civil rights and healthhcare for the poor and elderly. John F. Kennedy came up with the idea of landing someone on the moon. In 1963 he was assassinated. Lyndon B. Johnson took over presidency for the rest of the sixties. Because of the military presence in South Vietnam, this resulted in the Vietnam War, which continued into the next decade.

-1961: This was the first arrival of about 700 milatary forces in Vietnam.
-1962: The number of military advisors in Vietnam had rose from 700 to about 12,000.
-1963: Because of the rising action in Vietnam, president John F. Kennedy continued to rise the number of military advisors. Now the number of military advisors was more than 16,000. This was also the year that John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and Lyndon B. Johnson became president.
-1964: The Gulf Of Tonkin incident occured on August, 2 1964
-1965: Pakistan and India went to war
-1966: More than 500,000 troops were sent to Vietnam
-1967: The Nigeria Civil War began, also the Six Days War began which was a war between Isreal and the neighboring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.

The Stonewall riots were a series of violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City. This was the first instance in American history when people in the homosexual community fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted sexual minorities, and they have become the defining event that marked the start of the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.
-The student and worker uprisings in France occured in May 1968
-Students from Universitys began protesting against the hundreds and thousands in the Vietnam War in London, Paris, Berlin and Rome.
-In Eastern Europe more students got inspirtation from the other University student sprotesting and began to protest in the west agains free speech
-The Tlatelolco Massacre occured which was a government massacre of bystnaders and the student and civilian protesters. It happened on the afternoon and night of October 2, 1968
